Emergency Alert Program
The Emergency Alert Program uses two different systems (the MainStreet Messenger® system and the Telecom System) that allow participants living independently the assurance that immediate assistance is available in times of need.
How Does the Program Work?
When the “ALERT” button is pressed (available either as a bracelet or pendant) it activates the telephone system to dial in sequence the three pre-programmed emergency responder telephone numbers.
Pre-programmed help numbers
Two responders are chosen by participants and can be a neighbour, friend or relative with the third pre-programmed responder being the 911 dispatcher. Once the call is answered by the responder, the emergency alert unit enables two-way communication with the participant acting in the same way as a hands free speaker phone.
Benefits
The Emergency Alert Program gives security and comfort to participants and their families. It assures that help is available to participants should an emergency arise.
Cost
The Telecom unit and transmitter bracelet or pendant are available from the Wainwright & District FCS Emergency Alert Program for $25.00 per month. The MainStreet Messenger® units and bracelet or pendants are no longer available for installation. Regular monitoring of both the Telecom and MainStreet Messenger systems is provided.
