Alberta Government
  • Alberta Ministry of Children and Youth Services The Ministry of Alberta Children and Youth Services, created in May 1999, offers a range of services and programs for children and families. We support families and communities, enabling them to provide nurturing, safe environments for their children. We strive to break the cycles of family violence, abuse and poverty that prevent some children from becoming strong, sound individuals.
  • Alberta Seniors and Community Supports Alberta Seniors and Community Supports is responsible for delivering programs and services for a wide range of Albertans. The Ministry consists of four key areas: Seniors Services, Community Support Programs and Strategic Planning, Disability Supports, and Strategic Corporate Services. In addition, the Seniors Advisory Council for Alberta, the Premier’s Council on the Status of Persons with Disabilities, six Persons with Developmental Disabilities (PDD) boards, and the Communications and Strategic Human Resources branches are also part of the Ministry.
  • Region 5 East Central Alberta Child & Family Services Authority The East Central Alberta Child and Family Services Authority is responsible for planning and overseeing the delivery of services to children and families residing in its region, as well as ensuring that provincial standards are met. These services include child welfare, resources for children with disabilities, child care, working with communities through Family and Community Support Services, prevention of family violence, foster care and adoption services.

  • Seniors Canada Online Seniors Canada On-line provides single-window access to Web based information and services that are relevant to seniors 55+, their families, caregivers and supporting service organizations.

Food and Drug Safety
  • Poison & Drug Information Service This service provides: emergency, immediate expertise and advice about poisonings; medication and herbal advice on prescription and over the counter drugs; drug information for health care professionals; poison research, education and prevention.
Abuse Prevention
  • Alberta Elder Abuse Information Network The Alberta Elder Abuse Awareness Network is a network of Albertans dedicated to increasing awareness and supporting a community response to elder abuse. Canada’s fastest growing population is over the age of 65 and rapidly becoming vulnerable to abuse that can rob them of their well-being, dignity and, horrifyingly, their lives.
  • www.bullying.org Where you are NOT alone! www.bullying.org is a multiple award-winning Web site that was created to help people with the issues of bullying within a safe, positive international community. www.bullying.org is a supportive community where people can learn that they are NOT alone in being bullied and teased, that being bullied and teased is NOT their fault and that they CAN do something positive about it.
  • Kids Help Phone Website Kids Help Phone is committed to improving the well-being of Canada’s children. To that end, we are constantly seeking new ways to make a difference.

  • Catholic Social Services Catholic Social Services is a multi-function social service agency that serves people of all faiths and cultures throughout central and northeast Alberta.
  • East Central Health East Central Health is one of nine expanded Regional Health Authorities that came into effect April 1, 2003 in Alberta. ECH serves communities in the counties of Beaver, Camrose, Flagstaff, Lamont, Minburn, Two Hills, Vermilion River and the Municipal Districts of Provost and Wainwright.
  • CFB/ASU Wainwright Military Family Resource Center Community resources, including casual child care for families living on base at Camp Wainwright (CFB/ASU Wainwright).

Child, Family and Group Education & Development
  • Storytime Program Story time programs for children ages 3-5 are held weekly at the Wainwright Public Library. (Prior registration required.)
  • Music for Young Children An exciting and innovative pre-school music program for children 2 and 3 years old. The program has a flexible format that allows adaptation to a variety of age and environmental situations including daycare and nursery school centers as well as home studios of certified Music for Young Children teachers.
